Away from the tourist targeted restaurants on the Outer Banks, Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant is tucked away in the local authentic fishing village of Wanchese on the south end of Roanoke Island. Sitting in a building atop one of the local commercial seafood companies, visitors are assured the kitchen’s specialty of fresh seafood, prepared to order with generous helpings of homemade hush puppies. The menu also offers a wide range of items, including a kids selection. You can even bring in your own catch and we’ll cook it for you!

This is not a fancy eatery, but you can’t go wrong with any place that uses vinyl tablecloths and serves homemade desserts and sweet tea. This is coastal North Carolina seafood at its best - just good, home cooked seafood. By the way, no alcohol is served.

Being one of the locals favorites, Fisherman’s Wharf was begun in 1974 by one of the longest-standing Outer Banks families, the Daniels’. After a hiatus of a few years the restaurant is back in business and is ready to serve you daily except Sunday from 11:30AM until 9:00 PM. Bring the whole family.

You wanna go? Head down N.C. Highway 345 into Wanchese. Stay on 345 (don’t veer off anywhere) until the road almost ends. You’ll see the restaurant at Mill Landing, on the waterfront. You can also get there by boat, and there are docks where you can tie up while you dine.
